ECOLOGIAS URBANAS

ESCENARIO ECOLÓGICO

DINÁMICAS DEL MATERIAL COMBUSTIBLE

The complex material Flow of Fuel and its cycle in the industrial system of Auburn University determine the metabolism of its urbanism by its outputs and inputs. By understanding that transporting people, goods or energy is a process, this process certainly requires transportation and vice versa. So on, the dynamic of those processes is based more on converting and transporting flows and masses, meaning by that a searching for departure and arrival points. This is possible by the processes but the impact of processes does not matter at all in people’s consumption.

Those anthropogenic processes within the local urban system of Auburn, related in a regional scale by its supplemental sources of resources demonstrate the idea that multiple scalar relations of transporting processes are inherent part of the city’s urban metabolism. Data resources say Auburn does not generate any of its power and purchases all its power for the whole Campus and its most important Academic and Research Centers from Alabama Power Company. The import dependence of Auburn opens the argue for future environmental controls for acquiring sustainable energies and future conversion technologies which can decrease the impact of transporting these processes.

The energy requirements and its capacities in Auburn, like the emissions and costs of the system are part of the primary energetic effects. Likewise, the land use is affected in the way processes produce waste and plainly, it would be necessary a flow and waste consideration for analyzing the exchanges between the processes. The fluxes, specific consumption and the process of origin and destination of Auburn, framed mainly by gas, coal and nuclear energy throw a figure of high waste which need to be placed in a better energy chain. Therefore, the significance of sustainable scenarios appears to be an alternative and a beneficiation for the energy conversion and for its demand. A model of auto-production can help for an auto-beneficiation decreasing costs and waste. A minimization in the distances will generate an enhanced system by also taking advantage of new removable technologies for lower ecological impacts in the city.
